There are quite a few interesting items Monday. I wish that more citizens would come down to these meetings and/or contact their council representatives regarding items.

Items that I have particular interest in are:
Res.No. 2008-R20; request a traffic study be conducted on Overbrook Road between Brook Road and Hermitage Avenue. - traffic continuously flies down this residential street, far exceeding the 25mph speed limit.
Ord.No. 2007-344; paper that amends the Ordinance which authorized the special use of properties for the City View Towers project. Now is the last chance for those opposed and for this project to come out and speak their minds.
Ord.No. 2008-27; to raise the real estate tax rate from the State mandated rollback rate of $1.18 to Wilder's requested rate of $1.23. Make no mistake about this rate, IT IS A TAX HIKE!!
Ord.No. 2008-35; to lease space at 3600 W. Broad (Seaboard Building) for city offices and departments.
Res.No. 2007-R194; To transform public housing from a model that concentrates pockets of poverty to a model that encourages mixed-use and mixed-income units. This should have been done 40 years ago.
Res.No. 2008-R13; to oppose a clean-coal burning plant proposed in southwest Virginia. Not only is this merely a "feel-good" paper that should be shot down like an Iranian fighter jet over New York City, but we have no business attempting to run a different part of the state when our own bedroom is a mess. Not to mention that the supposed facts upon which this paper is based, are questionable.
Don't be a stranger! Come out and take part in your city government.
